Hart's Bakery

Tucked beneath the arches next to Temple Meads Station, Hart's Bakery is a Bristol institution. Incredible sourdough, buttery pastries and seasonal lunches, and you can spy on them making it all fresh in the bakery. Grab a table in the sunshine for people watching and catching up over some of the city's best coffee, locally roasted Extract, and any of their pastries or cakes. It almost makes a trip to London from Temple Meads worth it..

Wilsons Bread Shop

Hidden away on Chandos Road, Wilsons Bread Shop is the bakery from the team behind Wilsons restaurant. FARRO

If you’re heading on the weekend, prepare to QUEUE. We’re British, we enjoy it, but if you’re not it will still be worth it. Not only are the people lovely, friendly and passionate, FARRO has all the best artisan breads and pastries crafted by hand with all the best ingredients and is stacked with fresh, flavoursome crafted produce. Everything will blow your mind.

Don't miss: The best in town Babka and a silky cappuccino accompanied by a cheeky Madeleine.

Little Shop & Pantry

A little further out of town, Little Shop & Pantry is a neighborhood cafe that packs a punch as everything is tasty af. The brunch menu is stacked with local produce and there's a delicious pastry selection, leading into loaded rolls for lunch and cakes for the afternoon. There's a pantry serving sourdough, fresh eggs and a load of delicious sauces to inspire some home cooking too.

Mark's Bread

Bit of a wild card as the offering is smaller but it's the perfect little date nook located on the Christmas Steps so you can people watch in the window and pretend you're in a movie. Drizzle pairs beautiful bakes with excellent coffee and if you get your timing right the loaves are fresh out the oven.

Don't miss: Obviously the lemon drizzle cake, but the banana and cinnamon loaf paired with cinnamon sugar cappuccino are personal favourites.

Catleys has become a favourite for anyone seeking outstanding pastries, artisan bread and quality coffee. Although best known for its baking, it's equally worth visiting for a relaxed coffee break and warm, welcoming service. It's proof that some of Bristol's best cafés are found just beyond the city centre.
